LFA.com Expired Domain Auction At GoDaddy Exceeds 600 Bids
October 22, 2009 · Leave a Comment
LFA.com is at a expired domain auction at GoDaddy right now that currently has over 600 bids and has been going on for hours. Bidder #18 has been bidding $5 at a time against Bidder ’s #1 proxy bid and extending the auction for several hours.
This is one of the reasons I don’t like the time extension rule of GoDaddy’s expired auctions – time should only extend in the last 2 minutes only if the bidder exceeds the previous bidders bid.
The price is currently at $14,545 and bidding is still continuing, I’ll update if/when the auction ends.
Update: Closed at $15,005 and 704 Bids
Mattel Launches Online Store To Let Shoppers Buy Direct
October 22, 2009 · Leave a Comment
Mattel has just launched a new online store to allow customers to buy their products directly from the them, the manufacturer. Integrated with Twitter and Facebook the new Mattel Shop allows people to share products with friends and family. In a very smart move Mattel is using ShopMattel.com to direct consumers to shop.mattel.com where the store resides. One would think that they are kicking themselves for not buying Toys.com when it was at auction earlier this year which was bought by Toys R Us for $5,000,000. I find it interesting that Hershey’s recently shut down their website stating that the current business model was not sustainable, yet Mattel opens up an online store and should prosper.
Afternic Removes Recently Sold Domains Page And 302 Redirects Old URL To Search Page
October 21, 2009 · 1 Comment
While browsing for recent domain sales on Afternic I noticed that the recently sold domains page once located here: http://www.afternic.com/names.php?c=0&sold=1 is now 302 redirected (screenshot) to http://www.afternic.com/search.php. Could this be because of all the comments on this post from The Domains about bloggers needing to respect domain buyers privacy requests or is it a temporary fix while Afternic irons out some kinks in the feed that probably was auto-published after each sale transaction?
Google Showing Three Listings For A Single Domain In Search Results
October 21, 2009 · 1 Comment
I just ran across a Google search query that resulted in showing three listings (1 main, 2 indented) for a single domain. This may be a new feature as Google has normally only showed results with a maximum of two listings (1 main, 1 indented) or a main listing with site links in the past.
