With the release of Google’s new Nexus One phone I saw it was interesting that Google is showing a new style of sponsored links for related keywords in search results. Not only is Google showing multiple links similar to site links but it also is showing a video in the ad. Is this something coming out soon for AdWords customers? Only time will tell….

Here is a very simple way to find niche product domains that are available for hand registration:

1. Go to Google’s Search Based Keyword Tool: http://www.google.com/sktool/
2. Put in the root domain of a website or a single page of a website, for example: http://www.nutsandbolts.com/screws-c-37.html
3. Leave the ‘Word or phrase’ field blank and then click “Find keywords”
4. On the left column under ‘Brands’ only have ‘Unbranded keywords’ checked (this should avoid Trademark issues).
5. Export and open the list of keywords with Excel or any other spreadsheet software.
6. Copy the column of keywords and paste into your favorite bulk domain registration look up such as GoDaddy
7. Register the domains that have high monthly search volume and high suggested bid.

Google’s Search Based Keyword Tool works by finding related keywords that users are actively searching for from pages you provide in the website field and provides monthly search volume numbers as well as suggested bid amounts. The best product domain names will have both of these data points with large numbers.

A feature of Google that I used quite often to see how many advertisers that were bidding on a keyword previously located here: http://www.google.com/sponsoredlinks disappeared and now redirects to a Google AdWords help page stating the following:

What happened to the ‘More Sponsored Links’ page?

As part of our continuing efforts to optimize search experience for our users, and due to the fact that it was a very low usage feature, we’ve decided to remove the “More Sponsored Links” page from Google.com

This page was a very helpful tool for determining buy and sell prices for domain names. Now that it no longer exisits it’s time to find a new resource for this information and to update my domain evaluation tools page.

Google Trends Drops Its Results Again, Now Only Showing 20 Results

Back in September Google Trends went from from showing 100 results to 40. And now today it looks like they dropped it again to show only 20 results. Google Trends was a good tool to find new domains to hand register, but it seems that this Google product as a stand alone product is fading out.
